DEAD MALL keep the ball rolling with chaotic new single ‘PROPERTY DAMAGE’

Newcastle punks Dead Mall have today released their second single for 2025 with ‘PROPERTY DAMAGE’, the heaviest track from the band’s catalogue thus far.

Coming in hot off the back of their recent single ‘GASOLINE’, the band have reemerged with a new refined sound following a 2 year break between releases. ‘PROPERTY DAMAGE’, which was recorded during the same session, is another leap forward in production – this time though, the band are firing on all cylinders, leaning more on their hardcore and metalcore influences with layers of frantic riffage and dueling screams from frontman Ruairi Burns and guitarist Darcy Long. Thematically, the song is a retaliation to some bad work experiences.

‘The lyrics were influenced by a few different work-related situations. We’ve all had to work a myriad of shitty jobs over the years, and this track mainly takes aim at different dead beat managers/bosses we’ve all come across. Anyone who has worked in hospo or retail has fantasised over all the things they’d like to say to their boss but can’t because of the financial risk, and ‘PROPERTY DAMAGE’ kind of acts as an outlet for all of those frustrations’ DEAD MALL

Produced and mixed by the bands guitarist Darcy Long, ‘PROPERTY DAMAGE’ was recorded alongside a batch of unreleased music during 2023. Much like the band’s previous single ‘GASOLINE’, ‘PROPERTY DAMAGE’ is a mixed bag of styles sonically, blending elements of hardcore, metalcore and everything in-between to create a sound that is wholly their own.

Although the track still sits firmly in the hardcore realm, ‘PROPERTY DAMAGE’ sees the band start to incorporate elements of early metalcore into the fold, drawing sonic comparisons to bands such as Every Time I Die Norma Jean with heavy, intricate riff passages and infectious, hooky chorus melodies.
