Legacy metal band Chelsea Grin (US) and metalcore innovators Currents (US) have announced a stacked Australian co-headline tour this May with special guests Bloom & HEAVENSGATE. Chelsea Grin and Currents will alternate headline duties throughout the country – tickets will be available Friday February 21 via Destroy All Lines.
The tour will begin in Brisbane at The Tivoli on Thursday May 1 and will rip through Newcastle’s King St Bandroom on May 2, Sydney’s Liberty Hall on May 3, Canberra’s UC Hub on May 4, Alter in Hobart on May 6, Wool Exchange in Geelong on May 8, 170 Russell in Melbourne on May 9, The Gov in Adelaide on May 10 and will come to a close at Magnet House in Perth on Sunday May 11.
Salt Lake City’s Chelsea Grin last visited Australia in 2023 in support of Thy Art Is Murder‘s Decade Of Hate Tour with Whitechapel, and their early days saw them debut at Soundwave Festival and on tours with The Amity Affliction and Boris The Blade. Chelsea Grin bring decades of experience to the metal scene and are pioneers of the sub-genre, Deathcore. Forming in 2007, the group has put out multiple full length albums, toured the world nonstop since their inception and have managed to stay relevant in the alternative community for close to two decades. Selling out venues around the world, their music speaks to their fans that have stayed loyal to them throughout the years.
Connecticut post-metalcore outfit Currents return to Australia after making an impression in 2023 on Polaris‘ Fatalism Tour with Kublai Khan and August Burns Red. Currents don’t pretend that life is a bed of well-manicured roses. Rather, it has been by way of exploring the forbidden realms of a tortured psyche and ferociously searching for meaning amidst uncertain chaos that the band has won the hearts of metal fans across the globe; a feat evidenced by 80+ million catalog streams and packed tours supporting the likes of Ice Nine Kills, Thy Art is Murder, As I Lay Dying, We Came As Romans, Fit For A King, and more.
A force in Australian metalcore, Sydney-based Bloom are set to make Australian metal fans proud on the upcoming run. With a catalogue that focuses on grief, love and exile, Bloom partners their deeply emotive lyrical content with surging rhythms and memorable hooks to dynamically marry harrowing concepts and captivating listening experiences. 2024 was a breakout year for Bloom, launching with the release of their debut album ‘Maybe In Another Life’ via Greyscale Records & Pure Noise Records. Their debut heralded praise from across the globe and saw them tour relentlessly, completing multiple headline tours, national support tours and saw them cross the ocean into North America with Miss May I.
HEAVENSGATE will set the tone for the night as they open the shows. At the tail end of 2022, HEAVENSGATE arrived on the alternative scene and breathed new life into it. Their visceral debut single CHEMICAL HEAVEN marked their grand entrance and lead the way to their debut EP ‘AND ALL I LOVED, I LOVED ALONE‘ out via Greyscale Records. The EP boasts co-writing and production credits from studio member and label-mate, Joshua Ang (Pincer+) as well as drum production from metal mastermind Erik Bickerstaffe (Loathe) and mix and mastering by Buster Odeholm (Thrown, Humanity’s Last Breath). Their debut EP solidified HEAVENSGATE as one of the most exciting bands in modern metal.
