Product of Neglect, an Australian Deathcore band continues to bring it hard, dark and heavy with the release of their haunting new single, “Rituals”. The Brisbane outfit, known for its unrelenting sound and emotionally charged lyrics delivers a visceral track that delves deep into the asphyxiating monotony of modern life.
“Rituals” embodies the torturous experience of being stuck within a loop, where every day is exactly like the last. It’s a stark window into stagnation, frustration, and the hopelessness of waking up to the same struggle’s day after day. Crushing riffs, brutal vocals, and an unrelenting rhythm make this song packed with raw emotions speaking about being caught in the inescapable cycles of life.
It weaves a tale of humanity seemingly pulled from some dark, ancient age. A bleak and dismal story of suffering and despair in endless cycles. Using imagery of ancient rituals, oppressive regimes, and the relentless grind of survival, “Rituals” paints an evocative picture of humanity struggling against forces that seem unyielding and eternal. The dark ages were marked by repetition, toil, and a sense of inescapable doom — A proper metaphor for themes delved into for this track.
The lyrics evoke a sense of being chained to an unending wheel, where each day mirrors the last, much like the ritualistic, unchanging nature of life centuries ago, which still holds true to this day. As the guitars slash through like the clash of iron on iron, and the drums beat with the intensity of war drums echoing through ancient battlefields, the song captures the oppressive weight of being stuck in an unending cycle.
Brisbane deathcore outfit Product of Neglect is steadily establishing itself as one to watch in the local heavy scene. Featuring the singles “Perpetual Night” and “Cerberus”, the band released their debut
album Synthetic Freedom on 2 February to modest success. The nine-track project, originally intended to
be shared as two conceptual EPs, showcases the best that they have to offer with a narrative journey of
love, hate and abandonment. Its horror movie samples and crystal-clear mix mark an impressive foray into gloomy slam territory, bolstered by quality over quantity.
