FANGZ Return With Sonic Storm 'Wide Awake' And FANGZstock East Coast Tour

Eora/Sydney-based punk rock quintet FANGZ have unveiled their fierce single ‘Wide Awake‘ – produced by Tim Maxwell (LOSER) and mixed by Jonathan Gardner (Front End Loader, Grinspoon).

‘Wide Awake’ detonates with rolling drums that set a feverish pace, paving the way for hard-hitting riffage to break through with a sharp, gritty edge. Propelling the track forward with relentless rhythm, the bass anchors the riotous intensity and the vocals create an unyielding energy.

Frontman Josh Cottreau touches on the meaning of the track:

“‘Wide Awake’ is about that gut-wrenching moment when you’re lying awake, realizing a relationship that once felt so right just isn’t there anymore. It’s that quiet understanding that somehow, along the way, you both changed and now you’re almost strangers. There’s no anger here, just a bittersweet acceptance—letting go with respect and a bit of sadness, knowing it’s time to find happiness in new directions.”

Accompanying the release, FANGZstock will return as an interstate tour, joined by Mountain Wizard Death Cult across all shows. The first stop will be Meanjin/Brisbane, with local acts Something Something Explosion, Boofheads, Joy In Motion and Boys at the Back. Following this, both acts will perform at Naarm/Melbourne with locals Raging Hormones, Arabella and The Heist, Damaged Goods Club and Dear Matilda. FANGZstock will finish in FANGZ’s hometown Eora/Sydney, joined by Bare Bones, Dedpan, Creep Features and Second Idol. Along with the shows, the event will also include a Hot Dog Eating Contest, Unlucky Door Prize and Kissing Booth.

Since their 2019 inception, FANGZ have released three EP’s ‘For Nothing‘ (2019), ‘But No Thanks‘ (2020), ‘Falling Is Pretty Normal‘ (2022), and a slew of singles, which received strong support from the likes of triple j, triple j Unearthed, Triple M, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Metal Hammer (UK), Loudwire (USA), Classic Rock (UK), Metal Injection (USA), Louder Sound (UK), NME, The Guardian, Rolling Stone Magazine, MANIACS and many more.

They’ve traversed the country multiple times, selling out headline shows, performing at festivals and sharing stages with the likes of FIDLAR (USA), Pennywise (USA), The Bronx (USA), RedHook, Comeback Kid (CAN), He Is Legend (USA) and Gyroscope.

The group have also launched their very own line of hot sauce ‘Fang us Some Sauce‘, an annually curated festival ‘FANGZstock‘, and hold the Guinness world record for the most hard-boiled eggs eaten in one sitting by front man Josh Cottreau (143 eggs in three minutes and ten seconds).

Coming into 2024, the quintet knocked out two national tours supporting The Bennies and Cancer Bats (CAN), plus completed an Australian East Coast capital city tour in one day. They also released tracks ‘Wasting Time‘, ‘Nothing To Lose‘ and ‘Same Old Story‘, which were warmly embraced by Spotify, Apple Music, triple j, plus a slew of community radio and blogs.
