Australian melodic tech-death band Snake Mountain have dropped a surprise new single for Halloween!
Inspired by Francis Ford Coppola’s 1992 adaption of Bram Stoker’s classic novel Dracula, The Revenant follows Vlad Dracula’s descent and horrific transformation into the monster after the loss of his beloved wife, Elisabeta, which fuels his rage and hunger for blood.
‘That movie had such a massive impact on me when I was young, there was nothing like it visually, from the dark gothic sets to the costumes and the incredible cast it was one of the things that inspired me on my path to heavy music’ – Nev Pearce
Blending elements of tech-death, symphonic, and extreme metal, this song has become a cornerstone of the band’s live performances and offers a glimpse into their heavier musical direction. “The Revenant” was recorded in the band’s own studio and mixed and mastered by guitarist Jaymes Jackson.
2024 was a significant year for Snake Mountain, marked by the release of their debut EP, Villainous 1: Reverence, which celebrated the band’s origins. They also toured the East Coast in support of the EP and shared the stage with Fleshgod Apocalypse and Wolfheart, in addition to performing at the Necrosonic Festival, Metal United Down Under and Drencher Festival.
Snake Mountain is currently working on the follow-up to Villainous 1: Reverence, set for release in 2025 and will announce shows and touring dates soon to kick off the new year.
