Belle Haven – Share Adrenaline Fuelled EP ‘something new’

Naarm/Melbourne-based alternative rock band Belle Haven have just unveiled their fierce EP ‘something new‘ – produced by Jack Newlyn (Between You & Mebukowski) and mixed by James Paul Wisner (Paramore).

‘something new’ unleashes unbridled energy as it blends blistering instrumentation, powerful vocals and razor-sharp lyrics. The sound is driven by relentless tempos and precise rhythms, balanced by moments of melodic clarity that bring an unexpected depth. With its mix of anthemic crescendos and intense breakdowns, ‘something new’ embodies an unapologetically bold and restless spirit.

Lead vocalist David De La Hoz talks about the inspiration behind ‘something new’:

“‘something new’ isn’t about one specific theme or story—it’s a mix of the emotions we’ve been going through as a band. We explore love, sex, heartbreak, bad habits (and breaking them), choosing yourself, and even death. It covers a lot because that’s just how life happens sometimes. Each track brings its own feeling. ‘fauxlove’ taps into something raw and intimate, ‘lose, regret, repeat…’ feels deeply sad, ‘thx’ has this angry energy, and ‘a hypothetical exit’ comes off a bit tongue-in-cheek. We didn’t plan to cover all these themes—it just naturally unfolded that way. In a way, we’re still figuring out what Belle Haven is, learning by doing. This EP is part of that journey.”

fauxlove‘ and ‘lose, regret, repeat…‘ open the EP with a torrent of gritty guitar riffs, weaving textured layers that paint a vivid landscape of vulnerability and yearning. The songs rise with dynamic instrumentation, as the vocals soar with raw emotions that linger till the finale.

thx‘ ignites the second half of the record with frenetic energy and a pulsing sense of urgency, with haunting melodies capturing both angst and euphoria. Mosh-pit-ready rhythms sucker-punch a powerful surge of intensity, turning every beat into a cathartic release. Focus track ‘a hypothetical exit‘ unfurl a whirlwind of rapid-fire drums and searing riffs, pushing the EP’s sound to its most visceral extremes.

The band showcased at BIGSOUND (2024) and have previously shared the stage with Comeback Kid (CAN), Silverstein (CAN), I Prevail (USA), We The Kings (USA), RedHook and Polaris.
