ME FIRST AND THE GIMME GIMMES: Spike Slawson talks Australian Tour, Obscure Bands and Punk Legends

Australia are you ready for the some more from Me First and the Gimme Gimmes?

After last year’s blitzkrieg tour, punk rock’s premier cover band are back with new album ¡Blow It…At Madison’s Quinceañera! and are ready to do it all again!

JD sat down with Spike from Me First and The Gimme Gimmes in preparation for their upcoming Oz tour. Chatting about everything from obscure bands that SHOULD be on your playlist, to touring with a punk rock legend and everything in-between.
Watch/listen to the interview here:

One listen to ‘Quinceañera’ and you know how things went down at Madison’s event. Spike summed it up perfectly “I would like this to be considered indicative of what a live show by the Gimme Gimmes can be. The only difference is that there would be people that wanted to come and see us. What happened at this show, to me, is better than unfettered, unconditional applause from a lot of people. Golf-claps from about five people is how I want to hear a live record.

Obviously they want more than a few golf claps but please no fake applause while you’re distracted at the bar.

Joining the Gimmes are the self proclaimed ‘last punk band’ Dwarves who have been kicking their unique blend of punk, garage, thrash and experimental music around for 40 years if you can believe that!
