Today, Brisbane indie-punk quartet Semantics release their new album I Feel It All At Once, via legendary U.S. label SideOneDummy Records. To celebrate the release, the bands drops a video for album opener “Last Amour”, which showcases a heavy, ripping side of the band that leans into a more shoegaze/alt-rock focused sound.

The Everblack Podcast sat down with Callum Robinson from Semantics to talk about their new album ‘I Feel It All At Once‘, his love of metal and the records metal metal inspired artwork, upcoming Australian tour and more

Watch/listen to the interview here:

On “Last Amour”, lead vocalist / guitarist Callum Robinson says “This song was written pretty late into the piece. This album was attempt #4 at writing and recording this album. This one came pretty late into the process but once we’d culled a few other tracks that weren’t doing it for us…Zachy actually wrote all the guitar riffs for this one and laid out the arrangement. I wrote words over it, I had to write the chorus 15 times because they all were sounding really cheesy! The writing process happened pretty late and took a fair bit of work but when we heard it back when it was done, we were like, “That’s a sick opener.”

Semantics will be hitting the road on the I Feel it All At Once Australian Tour, which kicks off in October and goes right through to the middle of November. Full tour details below.

Representing a bright new chapter for the group, I Feel It All At Once builds on a diverse range of sonic influences; crushing riffs, soaring melodies and introspective, open songwriting coming together in producing Semantics’ most cohesive and definitive work to date.

Across its eleven tracks, I Feel It All At Once encapsulates a broad emotional spectrum; snapshots of life’s experiences, journeying themes of grief, love, yearning and ultimately, acceptance. Semantics are a band who have proven in the past that they are unafraid to explore darker themes and subject matter but even then, they displayed a talent for doing it in a way that felt healthy and cathartic.

Here, we see a band who has navigated the ups and downs of the last few years of life, relationships and growth, emerging from it tighter than ever. Musically, the vision for their future has never felt more positive.
