HEALTH today released the official music video for ASHAMED (FEAT. LAUREN MAYBERRY). Directed by Mynxii White, the video–premiering today via PAPER Magazine–serves as the eerie accompaniment to the LA band’s stunning, debut collaboration with Mayberry. The reworking of ASHAMED, a standout single from their critically acclaimed album RAT WARS (Loma Vista Recordings), was released digitally in April to praise and support from Revolver, Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, FLOOD Magazine, UproxxThe PRP, Under The Radar, and more. HEALTH’s Jake Duzsik says: “We have commissioned many remixes of our work and participated in dozens of collaborations, but this is the first time I can recall reimagining a previously released song with another vocalist. For me it has given the music a fresh life and deeper dimension.”

Mayberry adds: “I really respect the creative world that HEALTH have built for themselves, and the community that exists around it, so it was an honour to be trusted with this reinterpretation. Always happy to run around in the woods at night and call it work.”

The new video arrives on the heels of a Live at KEXP Session and recent European tour of festivals and headlining dates. Later this month, HEALTH will embark on a headlining Australian headline tour with special guests Zheani, Joshua Wells & Karina Utomo. There is a low ticket warning for the Adelaide show while all other shows are sold out.The trio of Duzsik, John “Johnny” Famiglietti, and BJ Miller will return to the U.S. for festival shows at Riot Fest (Chicago) and Louder Than Life (Louisville), before they venture back to Europe for more headlining shows.

HEALTH’s long and willfully unconventional career arc has coalesced in RAT WARS, their acclaimed 2023 album (Loma Vista Recordings) that cements them in the lineage of groundbreaking heavy acts like Nine Inch Nails and Ministry, who re-drew the borders between metal, electronic and pop music. It could be The Downward Spiral for people with at least two monitors and a vitamin D deficiency. Released digitally in December, and produced by Stint (Oliver Tree, Demi Lovato) and mixed by Lars Stalfors (SALEM, The Neighbourhood), RAT WARS is now HEALTH’s highest streaming album, with 24 million global streams to date. Their fifth LP also debuted at #1 on Apple’s Alternative Top Albums Chart and in the Top 10 of Spotify’s Top Albums Chart, while earning the trio cover stories at Revolver, Kerrang!, and Fuze, as well as guest appearances on Amoeba’s What’s In My Bag, Alternative Press’ Artist Friendly podcast, Comedy Bang Bang’s CBB.FMLoudwire’s Loudwire Nights, Songwriters on Process, Joe Pug’s The Working Songwriter, and more. RAT WARS ended the year on ‘Best Albums of 2023’ lists by Revolver, Alternative Press, New York Magazine/Vulture, MXDWN (#1 Album of 2023), Heavy Consequence, Uproxx, and FLOOD Magazine, among others. Earlier this week, album track HATEFUL won the ‘Best Record From Games and Interactive Media’ category at A2IM’s 2024 Libera Awards for its appearance in the hit video game ULTRAKILL.

2024 is HEALTH‘s busiest year to date. Metal legends Lamb of God, whose guitarist Willie Adler is featured on the menacing RAT WARS track CHILDREN OF SORROW, just announced they will once again team up with HEALTH for a new remix of their track Laid To Rest on their Ashes Of The Wake (20th Anniversary Edition) LP due out August 30, via Epic Records/Legacy Recordings. In April, HEALTH released their first collaboration with chart-topping rock band Bad Omens and electronic sensation SWARM on another powerhouse track, THE DRAIN, from Bad Omens’ CONCRETE JUNGLE [THE OST] (Sumerian Records). A ‘SELECTED WORKS’ Thematic Album Compilation playlist, featuring the band’s most beloved tracks, was also recently released across all DSPs. In February, HEALTH’s installment for Spotify Singles–a darkly vibrant reworking of Deftones’ classic Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)–debuted just ahead of their headlining ‘RAT-BASED WARFARE TOUR’ that saw sold-out shows Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin, Portland, Toronto, Seattle, and San Francisco, among others.
