Iron Mind Announce First AU + NZ Headline Tour In Over A Decade

Revered Melbourne hardcore band Iron Mind will hit the road this winter for their first headline tour in 11 years! Touring in support of their crushing new full-length, Test Of The Iron Mind (out June 13 via Last Ride Records / Flatspot Records), Iron Mind will play cities across Australia and Aotearoa in June and July with Perth’s hardcore force The Chain and Melbourne heavy hitters Horsepower along for the ride, plus a rotating line up of local supports at each stop.

Alongside the tour news, Iron Mind also share the title track from their forthcoming record. A powerful statement, “Test Of The Iron Mind” is as bone-crushing as it is anthemic.

Vocalist Sam Octigan shares: “The eponymous track of the record sums up who and what Iron Mind is. ‘Test Of The Iron Mind’ became the record title early on in the process, as a nod to our history but looking at the topic with contemporary eyes. The song and title goes back to our 2008 track ‘The Iron Mind’, that has become a live show staple for us. The ‘test’ in ‘Test Of The Iron Mind’ is us looking back on those original lyrics from 2008 and reflecting that the challenges don’t get easier, but with experience we can develop better tools.”

Breaking out with 2009’s The Sun Has Set EP, followed by their 2011 debut album Hell Split Wide Open, Iron Mind signed to Flatspot Records in 2014 for the release of their self-titled LP. Building up a global name for themselves with intense live sets, they toured with bands such as Turnstile, Terror, No Warning and Harm’s Way during that time. Shifting down a gear in terms of a full tour schedule and releasing new music, Iron Mind opted to simply play an annual show at home for a number of years, the band returned in 2023 with Assume Your Ultimate Form.

Aptly titled, the ten tracks on Test Of The Iron Mind nod to Iron Mind’s history, while clearly written with the band’s contemporary vision. Produced by Otis Bennie (AWOL), recorded by Sam Johnston at The Black Lodge, and mixed by Taylor Young at The Pit, the raw energy found on Iron Mind’s past releases is transformed into a massive, crisp sound that still instils a heavy conveyance. With pragmatic lyrics, a sonic fury, and bridging their past and future, Iron Mind’s forthcoming album is set to be their most definitive.

To celebrate the release of their new record, Iron Mind will embark on their first headline tour since 2014! Kicking off in Brisbane on release day, Iron Mind will do a lap of Australia before heading to NZ on what is set to be the biggest tour of their 20-year career. Playing a string of 18+ and All Ages shows, Iron Mind will also headline Burning Hammer Records and Last Ride Records showcases in Brisbane and Newcastle respectively, leading an absolutely massive line-up of the best hardcore bands in Australia right now.
