Melbourne metal outfit HEAVENSGATE have been levelling up at an impressive rate, and today they announce their signing to Pure Noise Records for the US, in collaboration with Greyscale Records for Australia and New Zealand. To celebrate, the band release new single OBLIVION and get ready to tour their way across North America supporting Thrown (SWE) through February and March.
OBLIVION turns the page on 2024, which was rounded out by the band’s biggest national tour to date last November supporting The Amity Affliction, Ice Nine Kills (US) and We Came As Romans (US) in arenas across Australia. The band were hand-picked by Amity vocalist Joel Birch, who said: “I picked this band for the Aus tour because… well, go listen”. The high praise is backed up by their latest signing to Pure Noise, also home to Greyscale label mates Bloom as well as The Amity Affliction, Counterparts, Knocked Loose and more. “It’s been incredibly exciting to sign with a label like Pure Noise Records,” says the band.
“Being amongst their calibre of artists that we’ve looked up to for years, with a team that believes in our vision is very encouraging as we take this next step with them. The band collectively felt a “pinch me” moment the minute we signed and everything was official. Looking ahead, we know HEAVENSGATE is in great hands with the collaboration between Pure Noise Records and Greyscale Records.”
Their ripping new single OBLIVION expresses the lived experience of a toxic relationship and the never ending cycle which the two experience. “OBLIVION is the collapse of everything around them whilst all they have is each other. Although the story we are telling is of a relationship with a significant other, the lyrics are crafted in a sense to allow the listener to relate to similar hardships. Whether that be with another loved one, substance or any other form of dependence,” tells the band.
At the tail end of 2022, HEAVENSGATE released a couple of singles that breathed new life into the alternative music community. CHEMICAL HEAVEN began the journey and was their visceral debut single and grand entrance. SHEMOVESLIKETHUNDER came shortly after, following a similar recipe on lyrical content, reflecting on love and loss.
Four tracks later and HEAVENSGATE had their debut EP ‘AND ALL I LOVED, I LOVED ALONE‘, boasting co-writing and production credits from studio member and label-mate, Joshua Ang (Pincer+) as well as drum production from metal mastermind Erik Bickerstaffe (Loathe) and mix and mastering by Buster Odeholm of Odeholm Audio (Thrown, Humanity’s Last Breath, Vildhjarta). Their debut EP solidified HEAVENSGATE as one of the most exciting bands in modern metal.
HEAVENSGATE played their first ever show in 2023, which doubled up as their first ever headline set, which completely sold out. Since then, the quintet have toured Australia with The Amity Affliction, The Gloom In The Corner and PROMPTS (JPN) and played shows with While She Sleeps (UK), Currents (US), Invent Animate (US), August Burns Red (US) and more. They’ll embark on their first ever North American tour later this month with Thrown, No Cure (US) and Varials (US).
New single OBLIVION is out now and streaming everywhere via Greyscale Records and Pure Noise Records.
