Tuesday, February 18, 2025 – From Byron Bay surf-rats to global festival headliners, PARKWAY DRIVE have spent two decades carving out an astonishing reputation, with millions of tickets, sold out shows across the world, and a legion of devoted fans in their ever-growing wake. But in 2025, PARKWAY DRIVE are yet again levelling up their live show to unimaginable new heights, returning to home soil to share a once-in-a-lifetime experience with their local Australian fans and global diehards alike, with the revered metal act today announcing a one-off live performance this June; it’s PARKWAY DRIVE as you’ve never seen them before, performing for the first time with a full symphonic orchestra against the backdrop of an Australian and international icon, the Sydney Opera House.
Renowned for their theatrical and explosive live performances, PARKWAY DRIVE will also immortalise this sensational one-off homecoming show in June as part of their forthcoming feature documentary and live album, HOME, which will celebrate the band’s 20 year creative journey to date that has led to world domination, from the shores of coastal New South Wales to one of the most renowned music venues in the world, the Concert Hall at the Opera House.
“For over two decades, we have carried our home in our hearts as we roamed around the world. Australia has made us; from the dirt to the sky, it is who we are. So, it is with open arms that we present to you this iconic event: Parkway Drive as you have never seen or heard it, with a full symphonic orchestra, performed at the most iconic building in the land—the Sydney Opera House. One night, one show, one band. Please join us for a black-tie celebration of the place we call home.” – Winston McCall, Parkway Drive
Armed with 3x ARIA Award wins, 3x #1 ARIA Album debuts, 6x ARIA Gold-certified albums, millions of streams, hundreds of millions of YouTube views and a prodigious global fanbase, PARKWAY DRIVE have redefined the sights and sounds of heavy music since forming in 2003. Releasing their debut EP Don’t Close Your Eyes in 2004, PARKWAY DRIVE quickly cemented a reputation that led to them flying to America to record their debut full length, 2005’s Killing with a Smile; and the rest, as they say, was history.
Now considered to be one of the most dominant pioneering forces of Australian heavy music, PARKWAY DRIVE’s back catalogue spans a horde of stylistic exploration and ingenuity, from the dexterous metalcore witnessed on 2007’s Horizons, through to the ground-breaking dynamics of 2010’s Deep Blue, the boundary-breaking evolution show on 2015’s Ire, the melodic rawness of 2018’s Reverence and, most recently, the arena-ready and multifaceted masterpiece that was 2022’s Darker Still, with the latter three LPs all debuting at #1 on the ARIA Albums charts.
With a horde of award nominations and wins, including taking home the ARIA Music Award for Best Hard Rock or Heavy Metal Album in 2010 (Deep Blue), 2018 (Reverence) and 2022 (Darker Still), PARKWAY DRIVE have also emerged as festival and stadium-headlining favourites, having performed at every high-profile festival across the globe, including multiple headline billings. And whether sharing stages with the biggest names in heavy music, or headlining their own towering shows, PARKWAY DRIVE’s astounding and fiery live performances have become the stuff of legend, with the group’s recent 2024 Australian 20th anniversary tour marking their biggest headline tour to date; and 2025 is once again ready to raise the bar to unimaginable new heights.
Releasing their first documentary in 2009, Parkway Drive: The DVD, PARKWAY DRIVE also unleashed a candid insight into their evolution from Byron Bay surfers to international icons via their 2020 documentary Viva the Underdogs, revealing a decade of behind the scenes footage and unprecedented access to the band’s performances, while also honestly detailing the highs, lows, triumphs and sacrifices that has gone hand-in-hand with the band’s monumental trajectory.
Through their jaw-dropping onstage theatrics and an authentic, driven connection to their fans across the globe, PARKWAY DRIVE are truly a band like no other, and in 2025 heavy metal will take the centre stage at one of Australia’s most famous landmarks.
Boasting a brand new curated show, a full symphony orchestra and a Welcome To Country by Matthew Doyle of the Gadigal people, this incredible once-in-a-lifetime PARKWAY DRIVE performance in June is set to be a ravenous celebration of Australian music, friendship and culture, while also spotlighting the nuanced power of heavy metal, helmed by one of Australia’s biggest musical exports of all time. Guaranteed to be a head-turning and fiery performance for the ages, and a remarkable addition to the rich history of performance at the Sydney Opera House in its 50+ years, don’t miss your chance to be part of PARKWAY DRIVE history this June.
