Formed in December 2022, Arkángel has swiftly established themselves as one of the most exciting new forces in the Australian heavy music landscape. Known for their passionate melodic deathcore sound, dark visuals, and commanding live performances, the band has been turning heads and capturing attention on the local and global stage.
Following the successful release of three singles—Defy Me, Warpath, and debut single Suffocate—accompanied by deranged and captivating music videos, Arkángel is set to release their highly anticipated debut self-titled EP on January 24, 2025. The EP was produced by Ionei Heckenberg from Zanari Records, who is also known for his role in the band Ocean Sleeper, and promises to showcase the band’s intense musical energy and creative depth.
Arkángel’s rapid rise has been punctuated by a series of landmark live performances. Their debut headlining show in their hometown of Albury, NSW (in a 200+ capacity venue) was a sold-out success, further cementing their growing reputation. Their singles Defy Me and Warpath were launched via BVTV Music, with both quickly surpassing 20,000 views each and receiving enthusiastic feedback from fans and reviewers.
In addition to their singles, Arkángel gained significant recognition after being voted through to the Sydney Good Things Festival Heats, where they received rave feedback from fans, judges, and fellow bands. The band’s commitment to their craft and their fierce live performances earned them a spot in the competition, marking another major milestone in their ascent.
The band has already made waves with an impressive run of live shows, including their regional performances at Metal in the Mountains in Beechworth. An 8-band headlining slot at Diamond Valley Distortion in Sunshine Coast, aswel as performing in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, further expanding their presence across Queensland.
They also recently performed alongside Australian heavyweights at the Outcast Festival in Melbourne, sharing the stage with The Gloom In The Corner and Heartline, further expanding their national presence.
Arkángel’s sonic assault is led by the commanding vocals of frontman Jake Harrap, with feverish guitar work from Harrison Taylor and Josh Žuljević, and the fiery percussion of Jayden Dukes Grenfell. Together, they deliver a chaotic, high-energy experience that has earned them a devoted following and set the stage for even greater things to come.
With their debut EP set for release and a slew of successful shows already under their belt, Arkángel is now focusing on the next phase of their journey. The band is working with ARIA-nominated songwriter and producer Callan Orr from Dream On Dreamer on new material, with another upcoming single set to feature Misstiq and further solidify Arkángel’s place in the heavy music scene.
