BLOOM: Jono Hawkey talks ‘Maybe In Another Life’, and The Works Of You Australian Tour

Sydney’s melodic hardcore outfit Bloom have recently announced their upcoming “The Works Of You Australian Tour”, set to kick off on Friday, December 13, at Persa Bandroom in Melbourne. with labelmates HEAVENSGATE! 

The tour will see Bloom play three intimate shows across the East Coast, offering Australia a chance to catch the live debut of recent singles The Works Of You and Ceilings, which followed on from their defining February album, Maybe In Another Life‘, released via Greyscale Records and Pure Noise Records.

The Everblack Podcast caught up with Jono Hawkey from Bloom to chat about their debut album Maybe In Another Life, their upcoming The Works Of You Australian tour, overseas tours, and anime.

The tour will begin on Friday December 13 at Persa Bandroom in Melbourne, opened by local metalcore outfit Melting, before travelling to The Lansdowne in Sydney on Saturday December 14, opened by up-and-comers Irken Armada, and finishes up at Black Bear Lodge in Brisbane on Sunday December 15, opened by heavy favourites Shokan.

2024 has been a breakout year for Bloom, beginning with a Japanese tour supporting Erra and Knosis before the release of their debut album ‘Maybe In Another Life’ in February. Their debut heralded praise from across the globe, with Kerrang! Magazine highlighting: “Bloom are one of the most exciting and promising metalcore bands to emerge from the country’s thriving scene in a minute.” 

They’ve toured relentlessly across Australia, completing multiple headline tours and national support tours with Bad Omens (US), Make Them SufferPolarisWhile She Sleeps (UK), Holding Absence (UK) and more as well as numerous festival appearances at Good Things FestivalUNIFY Gathering and CVLTFEST. Bloom’s recent excursion through North America with Miss May I (US) and In Hearts Wake proved the band to be rising stars on an international playing field, and they’ll tick off UK & Europe early next year when they support Silverstein (US) on their 25 Years Of Noise Tour throughout March alongside Thursday (US) and The Callous Daoboys (US).

Joining Bloom across the East Coast as main supports is Melbourne metal outfit HEAVENSGATE. The band breathed new life into the alternative music community in 2022 when they signed to Greyscale Records and 1126 Records to debut their unique blend of moody metal. In just two years the band have built a dedicated global fanbase, have collected more than a million streams on Spotify alone, played sold out show after sold out show, are currently completing an arena tour across Australia supporting The Amity AfflictionWe Came As Romans (US) and Ice Nine Kills (US) and have just announced their first North American tour supporting Thrown (SWE) with Varials (US) and No Cure (US) through February and March 2025.
