The Kid LAROI – HOTA Gold Coast [Live Review]

Review: Joshua Hobbins

This was a great show to experience with my son, since the last time we went to a show together was Post Malone way back in 2019. In a similar vein, tonight’s star The Kid LAROI brought his signature style and heartfelt performance to Gold Coast’s HOTA, captivating an audience filled with many young fans and families spread throughout the crowd. His authenticity shone throughout the night, as he shared personal anecdotes, engaged with the crowd, and exuded a genuine, humble attitude—a somewhat rare sight for an artist of his stature.

The show kicked off with Sorry, setting a powerful tone for the evening. As What’s the Move began, the live band with deep bass, drums and keys elevated the experience, underscoring how much a live band accompaniment can enhance a hip-hop show. Baby I’m Back became an interactive highlight, with The Kid LAROI encouraging the crowd to create the “biggest mosh pit the Gold Coast has ever seen.”

Each song brought its own flavour. Tracks like Girls and Go fostered massive crowd singalongs, with Go dedicated to the late Juice WRLD—a touching tribute punctuated by a heartfelt call-and-response, ending in a roaring chant of “long live Juice.”

The night also featured an unexpected but memorable moment during Bleed, when a fan named Nash was invited on stage to play guitar. Stripping the performance back without backing tracks, the raw energy between The Kid LAROIand Nash was a highlight, revealing The KidLAROI’s appreciation for spontaneous, genuine artistry.

Other standout moments included Heaven, which showcased The Kid LAROI’s vocal strength, and Where Does Your Spirit Go? a poignant piece about loss, underscoring The Kid LAROI’s reflective and emotional depth.

With every song, The Kid LAROI demonstrated gratitude, even dedicating Love Again to the fans for their time and support. His talent, humility, and deep connection to his audience made the night unforgettable, ending on a high with fan favourites Stay and Nights Like This as the perfect closer to a truly memorable performance.
