2023 gifted the unforgettable resurgence of Aussie alt metal icons Sunk Loto, releasing their first new music in two decades in the form of The Gallows Wait. And almost 12 months to the day, today Sunk Loto are back raising the bar to unimaginable new heights, armed with one of the heaviest cuts of their career: God Complex.
Opening with caustic brutality, God Complex seamlessly ignites between razor-sharp guitarwork, propulsive drums and basslines, and the gripping Jekyll and Hyde-like potency of frontman Jason Brown‘s clean and harsh vocal dexterity.
Produced by Forrester Savell and engineered by Luke Palmer, God Complex is a resounding reflection of the stacked Sunk Loto arsenal, while also cementing the fact that somehow after all these years and successes along the way, time has only fortified the Sunk Loto creative psyche; and the best continues to be yet to come.
“2024 has not been without its challenges for us working to get music out to our fans, but we are extremely excited to be on the other side of that now starting with finally releasing our new song God Complex,” shares the band. “This one sees us throwing down with some of the heaviest sounds we’ve ever done and shows the best of what we do wrapped up in one song. We know we made you wait a while for this but we’re sure it’s going to be worth it.”
Staging a monumental rebirth in 2022, Sunk Loto spent 2023 celebrating the album that changed the game, with the quartet commemorating the 20th anniversary of their 2003 opus Between Birth and Death with a huge Australian tour.
Having previously toured the globe alongside the likes of Korn, Linkin Park, A Perfect Circle, Suicidal Tendencies and Sevendust, with festival appearances also under their collective belts including Big Day Out, Homebake, Vans Warped Tour and Splendour In The Grass, Sunk Loto swiftly became synonymous with Australian metal while most members were still in their teens.
