Brisbane/Meanjin metalcore outfit Wildheart announce their latest album ‘Searching For Life Beyond Tragedy‘ will be out Friday November 15. The band share scathing new single Evergreen as a taste of things to come.
Wildheart’s sophomore album, ‘Searching For Life Beyond Tragedy’ is home to eight poignant and scorchingly heavy new tracks, including the previously released Withered. Carrying the torch forward, the album delves into themes varying from political frustration, mental health awareness and social injustices.
Evergreen is central to Wildheart’s message, targeting the inaction of leaders in a time of crisis. In a world where the cost of living is rising and news of conflict, discrimination and global climate disasters are bombarding media platforms, Wildheart call for tangible action from those in power. “This song’s original intent feels more relevant than ever in light of the fact that we are a year into witnessing the genocide of the Palestinian people,” tells the band. “Whilst this song wasn’t specifically written about Gaza, it touches on Capitalism, Western Imperialism and the ongoing rise of the Fascist Right, which, in light of the ongoing events, we want to raise our voices for.”
“We have a platform, so we need to stand up and keep making our voices heard. We want to leave a better world for those who come after us, and we’ll carry the torch as long as we can so when it’s time to pass it over to the next generation of hardcore bands we’ll be sure we did what we could.”
Last month Wildheart released the single Withered and accompanied the news with the announcement that vocalist and proud Yugambeh man Axel Best opted to move to guitar, with vocal duties passed across to new member Dane Evans. Evans’ roots lie in Byron Bay, where he is considered hardcore royalty having previously played in local favourites Crime Scene, Deceiver and Sink or Swim.
Through their music and advocacy over the years, the band has earned a long list of accolades; Wildheart’s debut album ‘Global Crisis’ – named 2022 Gold Coast Music Award’s Release of the Year – debuted #10 on Australian Independent Record Labels Associations charts. They have been nominated as finalists at Gold Coast Music Awards, Queensland Music Awards, and for the Environmental Music Prize. Their music has received editorial playlisting on Apple Music and Spotify as well as seeing adds to triple j Unearthed rotation and airtime on Channel 7 AFL, Rage, 4ZZZ and multiple triple j radio programs.
Wildheart passionately advocate for open conversation and action surrounding mental health, social injustice, and discrimination. The quintet have jumped from strength to strength, earning them their shot at Australian music festivals including UNIFY Gathering, BIGSOUND, Thrashville, Bleach, and Fireball Festival, as well as playing sold out shows across a multitude of Queensland venues and performing alongside heavyweight acts; Stick To Your Guns (USA), Holding Absence (UK), Northlane, Alpha Wolf and more.
Evergreen is available and streaming everywhere now. ‘Searching For Life Beyond Tragedy’ will be out Friday November 15, and is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
