Trophy Eyes
originally thought ‘Suicide and Sunshine‘ would be their final album. But as they dug deeper into the project, they found a whole new reason to keep going. The album became a reflection on life’s ups and downs, exploring themes of connection and resilience. It’s a testament to how much the band has grown and a celebration of their music.

Now, more than a year after ‘Suicide and Sunshine‘ came out, Trophy Eyes are still on tour, playing shows to support their most acclaimed album. They’re even throwing in a new song for their Australian fans! The Fortitude Music Hall was the venue for this epic night, and the backdrop was a striking palm tree with a noose hanging from it, setting the scene for a memorable show.

The Adelaide duo, Towns, kicked off the show with a surprisingly perfect set. They’ve been gaining a lot of attention lately, and it’s easy to see why. Their energetic punk-pop style got the crowd pumped up, especially when singer Aston announced their next two songs were their angriest. The pair’s engaging banter with the audience helped create a more intimate atmosphere and drew the crowd into the show.

All the way from Blackpool, England, Boston Manor took the stage to a roaring crowd. Dedicated fans surged forward, eager to catch a glimpse of their favorite band. The energy was electric as the Blackpool natives launched into their explosive set. Vocalist Henry Cox rallied the crowd with his infectious enthusiasm, and the room erupted with cheers and applause. “Halo” was a particular highlight, with the crowd singing along in unison. The band’s musicianship was on full display, with Mike Cunniff’s incredible guitar skills captivating the audience. As the set drew to a close, Cox encouraged everyone to get up and dance for the final song, “Foxglove.”

While Boston Manor only performed previously released songs from their upcoming album, “Sundiver,” their performance left the crowd wanting more. Many fans expressed hope for a future headline tour in Australia for the upcoming album.

The lights all lit up telling the crowd it was time. An intro played over the speakers. A tenor singing opera as the boys from Newcastle approached the stage and raised their arms high. As the lights dimmed and the blue stage lights illuminated the room, a palpable sense of euphoria filled the air. Trophy Eyes immediately captivated the Brisbane crowd with their opening song, “Sydney.” By their second track, “Life in Slow Motion,” vocalist John Floreanihad already made a powerful impression.

The audience was in complete sync, singing along to every word.  It’s a reminder that whilst there may be a stage here, nothing divides those standing upon it from those in front of it tonight. With just an hour to rattle through over four albums worth of material. After blasting out “People like you“, Floreani took a moment to address a fan’s distress, prioritizing their safety and offering assistance. Debuting some songs never played live before “My Inheritance” was very much a standout.

Floreani then announced to everyone to get their phones out, not to shine lights or take photos but to jump onto spotify and streaming services and follow all the artists that were a part of the show this evening. It seems to be a trademark of his and the crowd was all for it, followed by him screaming to the crowd that there is “No life without Art” and jumping into crowd favourite “Friday Forever“.

Throughout the set, Floreani’s infectious energy and genuine joy were evident, frequently pausing to take in the moment, the grin plastered upon his face is one of sheer joy, sprinkled with surprise at the sold out crowd. The crowd’s enthusiastic singing echoed through the venue, a testament to Trophy Eyes‘ enduring popularity. The band’s dedication and gratitude were palpable as they delivered an exceptional performance. The infectious singalong notes of 2018’s “You Can Count On Me” rounding out the evening before “Chlorine” to end an epic night.
A night of pure escape and celebration, the concert offered a chance to forget about the outside world. Trophy Eyes delivered an electrifying performance that showcased the best of both their music and the live music experience. As the lights rose and fans eagerly awaited the setlist, the excitement was palpable. This was what it was all about.
