Some bands seek and reach a place where the sound they create seems to have been born from the darkest aspects of the human condition. Not relying upon shock in its imagery, or unrelenting speed or brutality in its delivery to convey its unnerving power, but just seeming to have found a sound that taps into something about us that feels truly terrifying. San Diego band Destard found that place and delivered that terror.
Australian based international label Bleeding Art Collective in partnership with Blood Blast Distribution (Nuclear Blast / Believe) are proud to announce and welcome Destard to its ever-growing roster and unleash the devastating weight of intensity in the band’s new single ‘The Divide’.
With a video that depicts the terror and horror of possible civil warfare, and a song that delivers the ground zero immensity that is akin to an act like Humanity’s Last Breath, ‘The Divide’ is both a dire warning for the times we live in and a powerful statement of what the band are capable of.
Lyricist and vocalist Cyric states “The Divide immerses listeners into the turmoil of a soldier’s battlefield. The song’s relentless riffs and powerful lyrics reflect a nation torn apart, capturing the raw intensity and emotion of a contemporary American civil war”.
The new single follows on from the band’s outstanding ‘ELEMENTALIS’ EP which was released earlier this year. Establishing the band with an immediate buzz and following, the team at Bleeding Art Collective were immediately intrigued by this exciting new band and the mystery that surrounded the makers. Label manager Greg Shaw comments, “My label co-manager Taigan discovered and brought the band to my attention, and my initial reaction was being struck by how each song on the EP unleashed its own unique sound and story. That said, the band itself was a mystery with very little detail on who was dealing out the chaos. Needless to say, I was excited to see where the band would go next, but nothing prepared me for ‘The Divide’. With this song you know that this is a band to watch, and the BAC team and myself are very excited to join and be involved with Destard and the dark path they tread”.
