Brisbane metalcore act Revoid share new single Never Mind, second to drop from upcoming EP, ‘Evergrey‘ out Friday July 19. Watch the video here.
The single explores the conflict between what we say and what we mean. Never Mind shares a sombre message, projecting ‘I’m fine’ when the reality is in fact the opposite. The band explain that the track encapsulates feeling a type of Stockholm Syndrome for misery. “Sometimes it’s all we feel we have, and it can bring us to the point where it’s the only thing we know,” shares vocalist Dale Dudeson.
“Sometimes feeling nothing can seem like a better alternative to feeling miserable, and in the end, we treat it as a coping mechanism and become entangled in a cycle of putting off help, support, or change when we need it the most.”
The new single follows the vulnerable leading single, Everything, which was written as a love letter of sorts to every version of himself that has paved the way to where he is now. Everything acknowledges that even through the darker points, each version played an important role.
Both new tracks and the complete EP is mixed by long time collaborator Mark Williamson (Inertia) and mastered by Kris Crummett (Sleeping With Sirens). Never Mind is paired with a music video by Nick Hargans (The Comfort, Sunbleached) – watch here!
The fresh new tunes will be debuted live at a headliner at The Brightside Brisbane on Saturday July 13. Presented by AM//PM, Revoid will be joined by Alienist to celebrate their new release. Tickets on sale now.
Revoid is Dale Dudeson (vocals), Jack Carey (guitar), Josh ‘Krusty’ Gudgeon (guitar) and Daniel Long (drums). Recently celebrating two years since their fierce debut EP ‘Sleepless Still‘ saw its release, the quartet are ready to welcome in the next chapter with ‘Evergrey’.
‘Sleepless Still’ was released in April of 2022 and launched to a packed-out room in their hometown. Singles Gloomsayer, Noise In My Head and Ghost helped to establish Revoid as one of Brisbane’s premier metalcore acts, collecting hundreds of thousands of streams and landing the band a cover spot on Spotify’s Homegrown + Heavy editorial playlist. The EP was launched on vinyl in collaboration with Anti Vinyl Vinyl Club, where it quickly sold out.
Since forming, the four-piece have played shows with Dayseeker (US), Stepson, Void of Vision, Bloom, Sienna Skies, alt., Future Static and more as well as completing their first ever headline tour across the East Coast late last year.
Never Mind and Everything are out now on all streaming platforms. The ‘Evergrey’ EP will be available Friday July 19.
