Melbourne metalcore outfit Windwaker have dropped new single Get Out, off their new album ‘HYPERVIOLENCE‘, which arrives July 12 via Cooking Vinyl Australia & Fearless Records. Pre-order it here.
It’s a melancholic alt rock jam, sprinkled with phonk samples and Memphis/Southern hip-hop influenced electronic passages. The chorus is anthemic in nature, with less focus on technical guitar parts and more emphasis on playful rhythms. Watch the video here.
“‘Get Out’ is about wanting someone (or something) out of your life and conscious thought,” the band offers. “It explores the discomfort of something negative returning to the present, and the consequences of staying in a relationship for longer than you should.”
Windwaker are playing a short string of intimate shows this June in Belgrave, Brunswick and Wagga Wagga before embarking on their first-ever U.S. tour through June/July in support of Northlane.
Shattering all restraint, Windwaker tear at the seams of their sonic boundaries, refining and finessing their craft into something truly unique. Concocting an unsuspecting recipe of electro-charged violence, sickly sweet pop hooks, bouncing hip-hop moments and slick riffage, the charismatic quintet move towards exciting new territory with each new release. And new album ‘HYPERVIOLENCE’ is the summit of their efforts.
The Melbourne outfit— Liam Guinane [vocals] Jesse Crofts [guitar], Indey Salvestro [bass], Chris Lalic [drums, programming], and Connor Robins [synths and samples] —have grown a dedicated and passionate fanbase, amassing millions of digital streams since their inception in 2017. SIRENS has cracked over 2.7 million Spotify streams in just a few months and saw the band travel across the nation in celebration on the ‘Love In The Dark’ tour with Caskets (UK) and alt., selling out nearly every date along the way.
The band’s debut album ‘Love Language‘, which released in 2022 via Cooking Vinyl Australia and Fearless Records, demonstrated an unpredictable and undeniable exploration of love across 12 tracks. Windwaker translate their electric and eclectic energy on record to the live stage, with STACK Magazine last year reviewing: “From full-on mosh to sensitive slowdance, the five-piece delivered a propulsive statement on the status of modern metalcore.” The band have carved their name into the core of Australia’s alternative music community and have toured alongside some of metal’s most favoured acts — Beartooth (US), I Prevail (US), Motionless In White (US), Enter Shikari (UK), Caskets (UK), Creeper (UK), Northlane, and more. The band will embark on their first-ever U.S. tour this June/July in support of Northlane.
Get Out is out now and streaming everywhere. ‘HYPERVIOLENCE’ will be available Friday July 12 via Cooking Vinyl Australia & Fearless Records.
