Patient Sixty-Seven – Unleash Relentless Record ‘What If It Never Gets Better’

Boorloo/Perth-based metalcore band Patient Sixty-Seven have unveiled their latest EP ‘What If It Never Gets Better‘ – produced/mixed by Ryan Botha (RinRin, Kellin Quinn, Aaron Gillespie) at Audax Studios.

‘What If It Never Gets Better’ seamlessly blends heavy and melodic instrumentation into a cacophony of chaos, as frontman Tom Kiely wrestles with themes of body dysmorphia, self-harm and mental vulnerability. Armed with six tracks of honest songwriting, the record is infused with crushing breakdowns, soaring choruses and lyrical potency.

Patient Sixty-Seven talk about the meaning behind ‘What If It Never Gets Better’:

“‘What If It Never Gets Better’ was a really important EP for us to write. The songs are about working through the obstacles in your life – grappling and coming to terms with the things that have weighed you down for a long time. The songs felt cathartic to write and record because they were a chance to face those challenges head-on. It’s our angriest and most heartfelt record to date all at once, and I hope people can connect with the songs in the same way we did while writing them. There are songs about heartache, about grief, about facing those who have hurt you and trying to move on. ‘What If It Never Gets Better’ is about asking that exact question by working through the hard times and trying to come out on the other side in one piece.”

‘Nothing Inspires Forgiveness Quite Like Revenge‘ begins with a surge of fervent forces, as guitars unleash torrents of molten melodies. In a mirroring crescendo, ‘Hibbertia‘ unfolds with eerie guitar lines and thunderous drums that echo with primal prowess.

‘No Place‘ features Aaron Gillespie, who intertwines emotive textures as guitars surge forth with a flood of pulsating riffs, illuminating a delicate equilibrium between ferocity and harmony. Gillespie’s vocals slice through relentless drums and scalding bass lines, heralding the entrance of ‘Mares Nest‘, oozing with intensity.

‘Share My Skin‘, featuring Tyler Ennis, bursts forth with urgency, swirling around Ennis’ haunting vocals with hypnotic grace. As the record draws to a close, ‘Out Of Sight, Out Of My Mind‘ unshackles a torrent of sonic aggression, hurtling towards a monumental climax.

‘What If It Never Gets Better’ follows the successful release of their debut album, ‘Wishful Thinking‘, which charted on both Billboard (USA) and ARIA, as well as topping both iTunes Metal and AIR‘s Independent Label Charts. They have also seen support from Spotify, Apple Music, triple j, triple j Unearthed, The Music, Wall of Sound, HEAVY Magazine, Blunt Magazine and X-Press Magazine.

In the live scene, the band have shared the stage with Dance Gavin Dance (USA), Atreyu (USA), Harroway, alt., Belle Haven and Bury Me. They’ve also embarked on two headline tours across Australia with multiple sold-out shows and have supported Crooked Royals (NZL).
