Taking cues from the likes of Bring Me The Horizon, The Amity Affliction and Bad Omens, ‘Heaven’ combines stadia-esque riffs with deft electronica production, amid infectious melodies that soar elegantly above. As the track shifts into its emotive bridge, ‘Heaven’ rapidly transitions into an ominous breakdown, before closing out with its hook-laden chorus.
Frontman Karl Spiessl describes the motivation behind the track:
“‘Heaven’ is about not wanting a part of religious ideologies and the concept of heaven itself. The lyric line ‘I hope you burn with the rest of us’ refers to the corruption of the church. If heaven is a place you end up for treating people badly; then why would you want to be there with those people? Why do I have to fear the afterlife because we don’t share the same faith? For us, heaven is being kind to the people around us in this life. Support everyone for what they love and who they love.”
To coincide with the release, the band will perform at Good Things Festival; appearing on all three East Coast capital city dates, headlined by Fall Out Boy, Limp Bizkit and DEVO. This caps off a busy year for the band, with additional festival appearances at UNIFY Gathering, Froth & Fury Festival, and DRPOUT Fest; of which the band co-headlined with Dear Seattle. They also toured nationally with the likes of Make Them Suffer, Fit For An Autopsy (USA) and Sunk Loto, and sold out their headline East Coast run in August.
Previous releases have been supported by the likes of Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon Music and a myriad of online press. In 2019, they were selected as triple j Unearthed’s Feature Artist, and have gone on to garner support from triple j with regular airplay.
Over the coming months, the group will announce additional live touring plans.
