Polyvinyl Record Co. and Emmy-nominated artist, author, activist and musician Laura Jane Grace are excited to present “Dysphoria Hoodie,” the first song to be lifted from Grace’s highly anticipated, forthcoming studio album. Grace’s first offering since 2021’s At War With The Silverfish — an EP that found the celebrated songwriter continuing to take all of her pent-up fears, anger, and anxiety and releasing it, like a molotov cocktail thrown into the abyss — “Dysphoria Hoodie” is a raw ode to a particular type of armor.

“This is a song about gender dysphoria and your favourite hooded sweatshirt,” Grace says. “Any trans person out there knows what a dysphoria hoodie is — it’s the hoodie you wear when feeling low and dysphoric and you don’t want the world reading your gender. Hide your body shape, hide your head, disappear as much as you can. Wrap yourself up in it like a blanket anywhere you go. Make your flesh become cotton. Instant protection from the outside world. My dysphoria hoodie happens to be an Adidas hoodie, so yes, this is in fact really just a tribute song to my favourite Adidas hoodie.” Stream “Dysphoria Hoodie” on YouTube HERE and on all platforms HERE.

Additionally, Grace has announced a number of performances for the fall and winter. Performing at this year’s The FEST in Gainesville, FL on October 29, she will also be making an appearance on Flogging Molly’s Salty Dog Cruise from November 8–13 and perform headline shows in the midwest at the end of December and early 2024 with support from acclaimed singer-songwriter Mya Byrne.
