Priding themselves on their ability to deliver uniquely eclectic moments through their music, Melbourne alternative rock band Reside return after over a year with their swirling new single Leave You For Dead.
Produced, mixed and mastered in-house by vocalist Liam Guinane, who also doubles up as vocalist for Melbourne metalcore monsters Windwaker, Reside’s latest single is their heaviest and most groovy song to date.
Thematically the track draws from the experience of feeling unwelcome in a social situation, but finding comfort in the person you’re with. “Leave You For Dead is about feeling uneasy in a crowded room and catching judgement from unsettling gazes, yet still finding solace in the companion that you’re with, assuring that neither person will leave the other behind,” explains the band.
Melding moments of soul with pop sensibility mixed with crushingly heavy guitars, Leave You For Dead follows on from previous single Palace, once again challenging the established sound of the band while also comfortably tying together contrasting styles into a neat package appealing to catchy chorus lovers and heavy music fans alike.
Reside formed in 2017 with the longstanding original lineup of vocalist Liam Guinane, guitarists Ariel Johnson and Will Eggleton, bassist Salé Brown and drummer and keyboardist Dylan Houston. Since then Reside have solidified themselves a place in the alternative music community and have managed to capture and engage a very dedicated and loyal fan base.
Across their releases the quintet have secured support from a plethora of Australian media outlets, have seen extensive play on triple j and community radio, have placed as feature artists on triple j Unearthed, and raked in some stellar reviews on their Unearthed page. Richard Kingsmill praised 2020 track Fallen with: “Houston, we have lift off.”
Reside ticked off the main stage at UNIFY Gathering in 2020 after winning the triple j Unearthed opener competition. In amongst this the band have played multiple sold out headline shows and have toured across the country with bands to the likes of Eat Your Heart Out, Windwaker and Columbus. Reside have also supported artists including Palaye Royale (US), Casey (UK), Marianas Trench (CAN), The Beautiful Monument, Young Lions, Stuck Out and more.
