Drug Church are stoked to announce their first ever Australian shows! The US hardcore punk band will play two very special gigs at Crowbar in Sydney on August 17 and Stay Gold in Melbourne on August 18.
Drug Church is a band without fear. For over a decade, the Albany and Los Angeles-based five-piece have been staunchly creating their own singular path in making distinctly outsider music that’s somehow at once welcoming and instantly satisfying.
Lead by vocalist Patrick Kindlon (who also fronts Self Defence Family), Drug Church have earned a cult following with songs that revel in sonic contradictions, seamlessly combining crushing aggression with bulletproof hooks, while the lyrics unflinchingly explore life’s darkness and discomfort with sardonic wit – and without judgement.
The band’s most recent record, Hygiene (2022), delivered their boldest set of songs to date to widespread acclaim. Kerrang gave the album four stars saying: “Listening to Hygiene might just be one of the most satisfying things you can do in less than half an hour”. Forbes declared it a “modern hardcore delight”, while Pitchfork compared the album to fellow hardcore luminaries Turnstile.
