LA-based industrial rock band HEALTH returns to Australia for the first time since 2016 this June, with a string of shows to match the increasingly dark trajectory their experimental music has taken in recent years. In addition to their previously announced appearance at Hobart’s enigmatic Dark Mofo event, the band now announces two mainland headline shows in Brisbane and Sydney with special guest Striborg.
HEALTH’s 2020 and 2022 ‘Disco4’ two part album series saw them teaming up with a frankly mind-blowing array of artists from all across heavy, hip-hop, and electronic music spectrums – splicing their own unique sounds with everyone from Lamb of God, JPEGMafia, Poppy, 100 Gecs, Ghostemane and Nine Inch Nails, to name a few. Couple this expanse of collaboration with their contribution to the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack and a superb level of meme-centric engagement with their online fanbase and stocks in HEALTH have gone steadily supersonic.
Slowly building from Tasmanian obscurity since 1997, Striborg is the solo project of one Russell Menzies. Rooted in low-fi black metal, over the course of his near 30 full-length albums Striborg’s evolution into industrial, dark ambient and new-wave sounds is still ongoing and wholly unique. Live appearances from this man have been sparse to say the least – with these dates to be his first in both Sydney and Brisbane.
